TRANSLATION OF README FILE FOR TPK 1.83 by Doug VK3KDI@VK3BBS.#MEL.VIC.AU.OC
TPK 1.83
--------
This version is only an update of Version 1.82. The chief modification is
the treatment of MD2 passwords. Operation in a DOS window under Windows 95
should now be correct: calling of servers has now been corrected as well as
time scheduling, only rhe bells may still falter (tones too long!) when TPK
is not the active program.
Installation:
-------------
Installation is carried out as usual with TPKINST and cannot be done unless
Version 1.82 itself is already installed. TPK.EXE, the files FRANCAIS.LNG
and ENGLISH.LNG will be decompressed in the TPK directory. The version
number will be changed in TPK.CFG. To return later to Version 1.82, all
that is required is to reinstall the files and correct the version number
in TPK.CFG.
Passwords:
----------
Handling of MD2 passwords is automatic. When the BBS sends a word key
between square brackets, TPK assumes that it is an MD2 key, and sends in
reply the computed string of 32 characters. Otherwise the classic password
system is used. This function is usable only in automatic mode, that is to
say, in a BRoadcast connection command, in a macro-command or a function key.
BRoadcast command for connecting with a password:
BR F1EBN-1 C F1EBN-1^M^7ATT 180 PASSWORD <TEXT-TO-WAIT><PASSWORD_KEY>^M
-------------------
Text sent by the BBS--+ +
Word Key to seek password in PASSWORD.TPK--+
Example suitable for FBB BBSs version 7.xx:
-BRoadcast command (put in CONFIG.TPK):
br f1ebn-1 c f1ebn-1^M^7att 180 password !F1EBN-1>BBSCNX
(N.B.: No ^M at end in the French, but it is included 6 lines above - VK3KDI)
Corresponding PASSWORD.TPK file:
BBSCNX
MYCONNECTIONPASSWORD
-Macro-commands for using passwords:
-Macro-command on connection:
(as it will appearin the macro-commands Edit window)
cnx c f1ebn-1^M^7att 180 password !F1EBN-1>BBSCNX^M
Corresponding PASSWORD.TPK file:
BBSCNX
MYCONNECTIONPASSWORD
Usage: type MACRO CNX<Enter>
or else <Esc>CNX<Enter>
or else <Alt-M> then choose from the list.
-Macro-command on connection and sending the SYS command (for Sysops):
sys c f1ebn-1^M^7att 180 password !F1EBN-1>BBSCNX^M.../
/...sys^M^7att 180 password F1EBN-1>BBSSYS^M
(This macro is all on one line: the .../... indicates a break required for
presentation here only).
Corresponding PASSWORD.TPK file:
BBSCNX
MYCONNECTIONPASSWORD
BBSSYS
MYSYSOPPASSWORD
Usage: type MACRO SYS<Enter>
or else <Esc>SYS<Enter>
or else <Alt-M> then choose from the list.
New and Modified Commands:
---------------------------
Screensaver:
------------
-SCREENSAVER CNXSTOP
The screensaver does not operate while connected.
-SCREENSAVER DCNX
The screen is blanked on disconnecting.
Bells:
------
SOnnerie MSG
Bell rings on reception of a personal message.
SOnnerie DCNX
Bell rings on disconnecting.
SOnnerie RX
Bell rings upon receiving each packet!
The syntax is the same as for the SOnnerie commands already present in
Version 1.82.
Broadcast:
----------
BRoadcast RJMSG BBS <BBS-ROUTE>
TO <CALLSIGN>
FROM <CALLSIGN>
STRING <Text-String>
Rejects messages. They no longer appear in the list.
BRoadcast <BBS> RXMSG|RJMSG BBS <BBS-ROUTE>
TO <CALLSIGN>
FROM <CALLSIGN>
STRING <Text-String>
Selects messages to receive or exclude BY BBS.
BR RXMSG|RJMSG commands apply to all the BBSs supported by TPK, and are
additional to BR <BBS> RXMSG|RJMSG for a selected BBS.
BRoadcast [<BBS>] RXMSG|RJMSG BBS <BBS-ROUTE> DEL
TO <CALLSIGN> DEL
FROM <CALLSIGN> DEL
STRING <Text-String> DEL
This command allows the operator to suppress a selection criterion (set up
in CONFIG.TPK) while operating, without having to quit TPK then modify the
CONFIG.TPK file and restart. It applies to general selection criteria, as
well as those specific to one BBS.
(The version update notes have been omitted.)
