First of all: my question may sound stupid, but know that I am new to linux,
and so were you, guru, one day!
Hi, I have a general question on Linux, and as an example I would like to
use the packetprogram TNT. I am new to Linux, and after installing the
base system (collection of RedHat 5) I first learned basic commands to do
some managing of my system. Of course I want to do more than playing
around with files, copying and making directories etc. From the internet I
got the AX25 packet program DPTNT (via my W95 pc at my workplace) and
saved it on (msdos) floppies. At home I mounted the floppies and copied
them to my /local/packet -directory. After unzipping and untarring I
edited the sample tnc.ini file to match my configuration, and tried to
fire up the tnt-program. This resulted in the message
Error: serial port locked by other user or unable to create lockfile
What is happening here?
The settings in tnt.ini are:
#serial port
device /dev/cua0
#lockfile for serial port or TFKISS
tnt lockfile /usr/spool/uucp/LCK..cua0
The revision (as stated in docfile) is V09.s
I would appreciate your comments and helps, not only in making this sample
program work, but also regarding general help in making programs work.
Maybe my next message will be sent from withing Linux, edited with vi!
