Ken Re the TNC and PMS. As you are using Winpack 6.8, it has in fact
a software PMS, for receipt and reading of messages of messages. This is
the one that uses the / slashes.
This really makes the Tiny PMS superfluous, But Tiny commands are needed
to call others from the command line that talks to the Tiny ie c VK2AWZ
and b(bye) to end etc.
There are other commands to reset the TNC to command mode, so as it
can talk to Winpack. These are issued on the command line such as CTL c d
ctl m for which I made a hot key in Winpack
Now the TNC PMS can be used, but nothing is saved to ur Winpack
directories. As one stated however it is necessary to allocate another
call to the PMS, such as ur call with a -1 ie G7VJA-1 The PMS can now
be utilised with the computer off, or out of the Winpack program, but
radio and TNC on. Albeit others must know, u use the -1 when ur computer
is off. This can be included in ur welcome message.
To read these TNC PMS messages using the plain l rm km etc on the
Winpack command line.
A led will flash on the TNC if a message is received on it. Conversely
if a message is received on WINPACK, when someone has sent a /m etc to
it, a letter box will appear in the top right hand corner of the program.
At the same time one of the Led's will start flashing on the keyboard. To
read that message just click on the letter box.
I could go on forever about setting up start and end Scripts, TNC initial
setting commands, hot keys etc, but I think u will find the help files of
Winpack mostly spell it out.
