Could be useable also for fire safety.
I have smoke detectors of the brand EI and there is a relay base that one
could connect to the arduino/raspberry or something.

Was planning  to use a telephone dialer for this but that only works on a
analog  line dont know if it will work with my vdsl modem and its telephone
port.
