After helping with a local ham radio course, I realise how confusing some of
the units, symbols, & names are to new comers.

Here is a short look at the problem if the names/units/symbols get misused or
are unclear. They can normally be distinguished by the context & a thorough
knowledge of the subject concerned.

 UNIT/
SYMBOL POSSIBLE MEANINGS
A Amperes, Area (a), Acceleration, ngstrom, Atto 10^-18, Attenuation,
         Altitude, Argon.
  B Magnetic Induction, Bars, Boron.
C Coulomb, Capacitance, øCentigrade/Celsius, Calories, Speed of Light,
         Cycles, Carbon.
D Distance, Density, Dynes, Direction, Drag.
E Energy, Electric Fields, EMF, PD, Voltage, (e)rgs, Exa 10^18.
F Farad, Frequency Occurance, Force, Feet (Ft), Femto 10^-15, Fluorine.

I Current, Inductance, Inertia, Iodine, Imaginary in Maths.
J Jules, (j) imaginary in Electrical.
  K øKelvin, (k)ilo 10^3, Potassium, Any Constant.
L Lumens (Lm), (l)itre, Lux (Lx) Inductance, Loss, Length, Lift.
  M Mass, Moments, (m)etre, Mega 10^6, (m)illi 10^-3. Mile (Mi), Mo(1/ê).

T Tesla, Tonne, Ton, Torque, Temperature, Network Type.
U Uranium, (U Signal Phase Axis). (U can be voltage says DK3UZ)
V Voltage, velocity, Volume, Vanadium, (signal Phase Axis).
W Watts, Work, Weight (Force), Tungsten.
X Reactance, Left Right Axis, Unknown.
Y Up Down Axis, Yttrium, (Luminance Signal), Unknown.
