Hi Andy,
I have found much the same as you. I have had the same 15 watt cfl in the
loo for about 6 years. The cfl in that room gets switched on and off more
than any other room. It was of German manufacturer, not Chineese.
I have noticed that they tend to give out a very yellow colored light as
they age. That is what I replaced the last one for. Also about 6 years
service but it just became so yellow in color instead of bright white.
I also notice that in the winter time, they seem to take forever to come
up to full brilliance but in the summer, (32 degrees in Cape Town today)
they come up to full brilliance in only about 10 or 15 seconds. The
interior of the house gets down to about 18 degrees in winter and that is
when I notice the very long start up times.
