Hi Bob,

Do what I did. I had the same problems with very short life of the CFC's
and then I looked at the label. Guess where they are made. Hint. It starts
with Ch...  

I then bought the non Ch..... version, and haven't had one go down since
and I have them everywhere. I even replaced the big outside spotlights
with the 18 watt CFC's as the old 300 watt incandescents blow.

I have also replaced 4 by 100w incandescent lights on my front verandah
with 4 by 8w CFC's and can still see the same amount of detail at night.

I even have 8w cfc's in my bed lamps and they are more than adequate.

I can't give you a brand name but check the labels and mostly the ones I
have found are not made in China and are branded Philips. But be careful
some are apparently made in China under that name.
