Unsafe chargers 'flooding' the UK

Hundreds of thousands of unsafe chargers for mobile phone, games
consoles and music devices could have made their way into the UK.

Trading standards officers studing dangerous chargers being imported
from China say vast numbers are available on the internet and in shops.

Their test show one brand can overheat or cause electrocution.

One of the chargers concerned has the code marking DE62347066.
Others have no code and are called Travel Charger.

=====================================

In my experiance some of these fail in the UK because they are for 220V 60Hz
power not our 253V 50Hz!

If SM type the caps/switching devices fail & blow the series fuse R.

If the heavier transformer type, they are SUPER saturated & overheat taking out
the internal thermal fuse.

Electrocution is possable if the output is not isolated (e.g. overheated
insulation)
