Hans PA0CX has done some experimenting, and he has published his findings
in the Dutch magazine "Elektron" (a publication of VERON in PA-land). If
memory serves, it worked reasonably well, but needed more work on
synchronization, and then of course there's the fact that the totating
heads use the blanking time between frames to switch from one head on the
drum to another.

But it did look promising.
