If you would like a very cheap 50 ohm dummy load that will handle a couple
of watts read on.

When a local company was throwing out some computer gear, I found some
line terminations. These line terminations for coaxial cable Ethernet were
interestingly 50 ohms. Having measured the forward/reflected power with
the aid of a Bird Throughline, I found them excellent dummy loads. I
tested with 6, 2, and 70 cms.

I found also a transistor heat-sink could be pushed onto the case to help
dissipate the heat build up.

So how much power can these midget dummy loads handle? I have only tested
them with three watts. They could take a little more. However my FT-X90 R
Mk 2s can only give three watts (X= 6, 2, or 7).

The best bit is the dummy load is free, nice one for you QRP people.
