Well as I said I was going to put out one of my pieces of software, rather
hesitantly here it is.
It was written about 7 years ago and was probably one of my first after the
usual "HELLO WORLD" attempts, so please be gentle on me.
This is a great circle distance calculator "distance between your station and
another sataion" it does require you to know the lat and lon of yours and the
other sataion but only in deg and minutes, seconds have not been used in this
version as they were one of the intended additions to the next version along
with adding in a direction in degrees from you station to the other station,
along with using a better, more accurate formula for the calculation. This was
one of my first so I went with one of the more simple formulae. As with all of
these type of calculators there is going to be a difference in the answer as
they all use an average value for the circumference of the earth as there is a
different figure obtained by the way it is measured, but it should be accurate
enough for most people with a maximum error of less than 5%
It should run on any version of windows from wndows 95 and newer, but I cannot
remember if it requires any runtime files, if you get an error abot a .dll
file it means that you need a set of runtime files, just let me know what .dll
it is complaining about an I will sort it out.
No installation is required and NO files are modified on your system so if you
don't like it just delete the file and it is "uninstalled"
ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE GREATLY WELCOMED BUT PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH ME AS THIS IS
ONE OF MY FIRST PROGRAMS AND THE FIRST THAT I HAVE SENT OUT INTO THE BIG BAD
WORLD.
I do mean it any comments would be welcomed.
OK HERE GOES NOTHING
All The Best
Paul
