Even I use a Delta like Mel, g4wyw intoduced.
9 meter horizontal on top, 10 meter elevated 2x 5,5 mtr diagonal - that is
exactly what I could install between my semi-detached family home.
Apprx 7 meter "chicken ladder feeder" (I risk to be killed by a certain German
bloke who may explain to me another times that it is in facht an "Open Wire
Feeder") to my shack and tuned by a (what else?) home brew Z-Match.
I am happy with this construction, working well up 7 to 28 MHz.
The elevation angle is, depending on frequencies around the 20 degrees (pse
check it with Mmana). Unfortunatelly not on 80 meters with these dimension but
my surface is not made by rubber, I have to take the circumstances like they
are.
40 meters means an impedance of a lottle above the 7 Ohms, some thing a good
ATU can manage, on 80 Mtrs it would be 1,7 Ohm.
Mel mentioned about feeding this construction on the different corners - and
that is exacltly what I tried as well (In Germany I am well known as the
"fairless experimenter", far away from any theory , hi)
Yes, it lowers the elevatin angle if you e.g. feed it on the corner between the
horizonal and the diagonal but the price you have to pay: On the lower
frequencies short distance traffic is very difficult.
OK, I like to introduce another antenna as well for those who struggle with
small lawn surfaces. This antenna is not my invention (I hate to be named for
things which are not "grown on my garden"), it was designed by dl1vu whilst one
of his trips to the Pacific where he had only small place betweed two palm
tress (True!) Take a simple dipole of 2x 6,5 Mtr and feed it with a random Open
Wire Feeder.. You do not believe the efficency?? Put it into Mmana (or EZNEC,
up to you) and check it..
I leave it up to you!
However,
three cheers to the ladies and the Whiskey
Klaus
