I think you may be being a bit harsh on John.

Let's think about the work G8MNY is doing for a few moments.

* Anyone is capable re-issuing their own work and I can understand your
point. Whilst you're still around on packet you're able to resend or
update your work at will. But not everyone stays on packet. People's
work like yours or any others would not be available anymore, and if
it's considered to be a good piece of work it would be a shame for your
or any other persons work to go to waste.

* Packet needs to be useful to it's users, otherwise it dies.
John has made the effort to collate bulletins, store them, list them
and resend them for the benefit of all. He is as good as providing users
a service, much like a packet library and is done wholly for altruistic
reasons, something that should be commended - not derided.

* Some users may get bored with seeing the same material - that's their
problem. John updates his own works when necessary. You can't update
anything unless there is something to add.

* It must be remembered that there are times when even the best of us
can occasionally forget some basic principles and it's useful to read
some of these bulletins to refresh our minds.

* What may not be of interest to a user at the time the bulletin was sent
may become required or become useful at a later date, making the repeats
most useful. The same goes for 7plus, just because it got sent at sometime
in the past doesn't mean it's not worth sending again. New users may be
seeing material for the first time too. Old users may now have a use for
the material which they didn't have previously.

I think it's better to encourage the use of packet radio as a means
of amateurs disseminating and discussion useful information and being able
to do it by radio too.

Packet radio has been forgotton by far too many for too long.

National societies are quick to promote stuff like echostink which only
appeal to lame brain ex-cb'ers wanting an easy five minute wonder with their
handhelds, quick to promote satellites when the days of useful satellites
have long gone in favour of minority interest ones or useless single
channel FM satellites, waffling on about moonbounce - something not often
practical for full licencees - let alone Foundation Licence holders and
yet packet radio - something that can offer the distilled knowledge of
active radio amateurs (often rivalling internet newsgroups) with a pawltry
1k2 and the willingness of a bunch of altruistic sysops doesn't even get a
mention !

Carry on John, and carry on packet radio.
