Superregens are not the only receivers that re radiate signals. I was
listening on my ham receiver to a W station calling CQ on 20 metres one
night when my father, who had been listening to the 7 o'clock news on his
BC receiver, came out and said, "Hey! You are coming in on my news
service". I replied, "I can't be. I am not transmitting." to which he
replied, "It's not you it's the feller you are listening to." I went in to
his radio and sure enough there on top of the ABC BC station was the Yank
calling "CQ darg xray".
This set me back quite a bit. How could this happen. Ah ha! My Q5er. To
gain selectivity in my receiver I had connected a little Bendix receiver
which had an input on 455 kHz and an IF of 85 kHz to my ham receiver which
had a 455kHz IF, by twisting a piece of hookup wire around the grid lead
of the 1st IF tube (6K7 or similar) and connecting it to the antenna
terminal of the Bendix. I then listened to the audio from the Bendix minus
the interference on the band. That short piece of hookup radiated from my
room across the house into my father's BC radio. A piece of shielded cable
fixed the problem.

stage was not needed for gain as they had plenty.
