Here's a "shocking" problem.

A variable capacitor is made with a plastic shaft, the knob is 
of course plastic but the grub screw holding the knob to shaft
is metal.

So how does the RF travel to the grub screw and give an RF burn ?

And more to the point - why manufacture a variable capacitor with a
ready made plastic shaft that doesn't work ?

For info the variable was pinched from an old MFJ tuner.
