The first acorn valves I saw were in a disposals transceiver, ex Forces,
that I bought in 1955 to use on 144 megs. I can't remember the model;  I
think it was something like AR301A but I won't guarantee that; it was 50
years ago. I do remember though that as it had a very broad IF (30
megs???) it was hardly necessary to tune the 2 metre band. You could hear
most of them without touching a knob.
Oh yes! It had acorn tubes. If I remember correctly 955s and 953s but then
again I am trusting to my memory.
I gave this piece gear away very soon and built myself a cascode Xtal
locked converter using 12AT7s. Much better!
