After WW2 I bought several SCR522 ex aircraft TXRX's..the rcvers 
contained 955 and 954 acorn valves..these sets were easily modified to 
work on 2M..am..I had many contacts on that band using the scr522.I 
also built a copy of the BC221 frequenct meter in which I used an acorn 
tube instead of the original octal based valve..it worked very 
well..they were extremely reliable and mostly only died of old age..
It was agreat era..
