Pardon me Patrick but when I did matriculation maths only a rightangled
triangle had a hypotenuse. The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right
angle. Your other formula might be correct but it is not calculating a
hypotenuse. To do that it must be a right angle triangle. (you said
rectangular which is not correct either - a rectangle has four sides not
three).
