Hi ,Just an update on the local farm. It is due to be officially opened
this month , 33 towers @ 2 MW each .Construction completed about a month
ago and presumably have been operating on a test basis since then.
According to the construction foreman they generate at 50 cycle AC ,with
a transformer to 33 KV mounted in the nacelle.The blades are 39 M for a
80 m diameter, they are fibreglass. Interestingly one blade has been
damaged by lightning already and will need to be replaced before its
turbine can be put online.The blades were shipped on two ships ,so will be
interesting to see whether they decide to ship a few spares along with the
replacement , I think the original blades came from Denmark or thereabouts,
but have heard of a firm in Victoria which is or is going to be making
blades.
