Not surprisingly, some Americans are of the opinion that (b) is correct
as well. They got it wrong the first time.
An 0old "Steptoe & Son" episode had this very argument about WW1 & WW2
start dates.
Then during man argument about some minor thing between Steptoe snr & a
German, on a flight, an American intervened after a few minutes, to which
Steptoe jnr stated," Thnere ya go! Bloody Yanks, late again!!"
