Computer simulating programs...

I agree with your findings there. And I have seen and heard
of a couple of things going off in a different direction the
modellers wanted.

It will never fly. We know, we know. I have written elsehere
that I think that progress is stunted by to formal teaching,
where the Professors are the "ultimate" knowers and doers.

Ah, yes , your example of : one dimensional thinking.

By the way, have you heard of the book of William Gosling? 
Radio Antennas and Propagation.

He approaches the subject in the way of Quantum Mechanics
and says : Teaching the way of electromagnetics to
generations of engineering students as if the Quantum
revolution never happened. Why so?

Radio and light -waves are similar, the frequencies are
diffrent and so their energy level. I think more
introduction of this thinking might produce better
understandung and ultimatively better simulation programmes.
But it will take a while to replace the OLD thinking. It did
us well, but the old Maxwell physics have been discarded.
The Mathematics still work, only for 50 years the textbooks
have little changed.

I have always wondered if , for instance the bend
Dipole/Yagi would fit a Computer modell. Lots of testing had
to be done. Or shortened antennas/very short ones would be
simulated correctly.

Oh, yes , happy real world experimenting!
