Hi Ian and others
I get the idea that the camera you bought might have a problem. I use
different digital cameras and have never had the problem discribed.
I us a Samsung digimax, a cheapie at around R 1000-00 (approx 80-00 UKP)
and that gives me about 350 photos at 640x480 pixels with and without the
flash as it switches itself on and off automatically. I use standard
alkaline batteries in this one.
From time to time I use a friends Canon (Don't know the model) but very
feature rich with almost every bell and whistle in the book and then some
more. This cam has a 700mAh rechargeble battery pack and we normally use
it over weekends when doing live sound and lighting at different venues.
This cam works from Friday afternoon's normally and only needs recharging
after the Sunday evening show (+/- 350 photos with flash all the time)
So this leads me to believe that you might have a problem on thet cam. It
might be worth your while to contact the manufacturer and see what they
say.
Hope this little bit of info helps
