After waiting about 3 years for prices to drop, I eventually bought a
cheap, satisfactory digital camera. It is the oregon Scientific (made in
China) PV100 plus 128NB memory card.

My reason for buying it, apart from the price, Ca Eu 100, UKP 70, was the
large, rechargeable Li-on battery. 1700 mAH, 4.7V.

I may have made a mistake. I charged the battery over the recommended 6
hours when I got it but there is a problem. It doesn't like to handle
flash.

So long as I keep the flash off, it will run for hours and take plenty of
pictures at good quality. Movies as well, which they all seem to do.
There is a warning about keeping the use of the 3.5" TFT screen to a
minimum. I know this is a big battery gobler. It was the problem with my
portable TV 15vyears ago. So I switch the screen off until needed.

If I use the flash more than twice, it takes about 29s to recharch the
first time, nearly 1 minute the second time an, on the third attempt, the
camera goes dead. I have tried leaving it 2 - 3 minutes, then switched
off, when the camera works again but not worth risking the flash!

Is this a fault, or is it normal?

Any advice welcome. Especially if you own the same model or one with the
same battery. Thanks in advance. Ian.
