thanks for reading this,

i have a midlands vhf radio, model 70-335 that has a lazy squelch. when i
turn it on from cold, the squelch remains open for about 15 minutes before
it eventually starts to close and then finally it starts to work normally.
even with full squelch, the loudspeaker emits a continous mushhhhhhh....
well i was thinking that it may be an electrolytic capacitor that is going
dry. (this rig has seen some action in its life). but which one? looking
on the internet revealed no help.
we are going to use this radio with a paccom dr-200 tnc to link two
cities.

ps, is this a 40watt rig? i heard one person say it is. just looking for
confirmation on this.
lets hope you can help me help keep packet alive.
