Right on Wayne.
I find the young Andrew's contributions based on his youthful exuberance
quite stimulating. His views unencumbered with experience and cynicism are
positively refreshing. Of course they are completely wrong but that's
beside the point! Quite an achievement for a youngster as most at his age
are unable to do more than mumble "... that's not fair..." than to be able
to write a coherent sentence.
The problem is if you come into a worldwide forum and start promoting ideas
possibly based on faith rather than reasoning and scientific method then
fairly soon the debate ends up with the faith based side saying "because I
believe it is so." Religion is based on unquestioning faith, and if you
have such faith you cannot maintain a realistic and believable dialogue
against someone who will in the end, disregard all evidence and use their
faith.
As a practicing atheist I find great difficulty in accepting such
superstitious mumbo-jumbo as religion. But it is great fun knocking holes
in each other's respective arguments and beliefs. In the end nothing will
change, those with faith will not change their beliefs and I'm not going to
start praying. What will happen is that the subject will move to something
that is unrelated to deep held religious beliefs where we will generate
more heat and light and words before drifting back to some subject that may
be ultimately depend on faith.
Everyone is entitled to their religious beliefs, just as I am entitled to
believe such people are deluded. They can think the same of me. And then we
can all get along thinking the other side are deluded and debate how to
charge NiCds or calculate Pi using Merchison-Poincarre-Flintoff calculus
:-)

I should be at work but the delightful local kiddies have filled all the
high security locks to the office building with Araldite :-( Instead I'm
being paid whilst I write this drivel :-)
