Our State Government is pushing on with a desalination plant also. They
have not said how they will power it but they are also building another
coal fired power station. The real problem in this state is that the
Governments have allowed the capital (Perth) to grow bigger than the water
supplies available can sustain, instead of decentralizing to a greater
degree. Everything is centred in Perth and Bunbury, the two cities being
only about 160 km apart. Now this policy is catching up on them.
The south coast has more than its fair share of greenies, who moved here
because of the lifestyle - forests, mild climate, etc. They have been
howling "renewable energy" for years and yet when the wind farm, was
mooted they howled" Not here! It will spoil the pristine coastline". The
windfarm actually occupies a few acres of sandy coastline with the maximum
security gaol as a neighbour. You can't win!
We have no rain dances here. It looks like being the wettest winter for 20
years. This city (Albany) had 12 inches of rain in three days recently and
half the roofs in the city couldn't take it including mine!! The wheat
cockies are cock-a-hoop! No drought, plenty of rain!! Wheeee!!

However the power required is such that a new power station is
required.

> Well, this has the greenies in a right tizz. They refused to allow a new dam to be built and now
they are complaining about both a coal fired power station or a nuclear
power station. The Premier has called for a discussion on a nuclear
power station, which I believe is code for he can't see any other
solution.
