Hallo John

Thanks for the many interesting articles you have posted on packet. I
do not read all of them but those that I have read have been
technically sound.

How about this idea for a kite antenna: Make up a J-pole antenna for
the band you are interested in and use a single kite or balloon to
hoist it up. For instance a 160M J-pole would have a half wave
radiating section about 80M long, and a 1/4 wave matching stub fed as
one would feed a Slim Jim antenna. It would have a near horizontal
omnidirectional radiation pattern and the bottom of the halfwave
section would be about 40M off the ground. No ground plane would be
necessary. Total height would be about 120M for a 160M antenna.

Regards

Henry
