I too have used a similiar antenna to get on hf and found it a very
good set up. My centre insulator was a 1 metre piece of round plexiglass
and I had 4 dipoles coming out of the centre of this. I had an 80 40 30 and
20 m legs coming out of this and could work almost any band I chose on hf
using an ATU.. i found that I could work 6m with out a tuner, apparently
because of the 30 m antenaa.. it would also load up on 2m without a tuner.
The antenna centre was only 8 m above graound due to local restrictions, but
I had lots of fun with it and it held up well in snow storms and even survived
the great ice storm here in Nova Scotia in 1998 without coming down! It was
an easy antenna to make and is a great first antenna for a person just getting
on hf.. i would still have it up if I had enough supports for it in the new
location. Good luck good hamming, perhps hear you on HF!
