I am currently using my mobile packet station which
comprises of my Psion Revo PDA,a Tiny 2 tnc, handheld,
homebrew Slim Jim made from 300 ohm ribbon feedere and
my trust 2x 6v roadside lantern batteries.
With this lash up I often find that the tnc creates
a high noise level on 144MHZ and today I set about
trying to find a solution.
As it just so happens I find that if I coil about a
quarter wavelength of RG58 up like the balun G8MNY
describes at a HALF wavelength from the rig's antenna
connector it seems to choke off the noise to zero.
Perhaps this is of interest as well.
On another tack, on the face of things it's good to
see John's repeated series of bulletins continuing
to provide info and stimulate discussion.
Many users may question the purpose of repeating
bulletins like John does, however they seem to be
doing a grand service for us all.
I think I might take a leaf out of John's book and
start a collection of my own.
Keep 'em coming John...
