Hi Readers,
Tests I have doen certinaly shows modern Alternators can provide 25-30A
at engine tick over, but older systems may not (5-10A). This is easly shown up
by looking at the brightness of say interor lamp whenm U put the headlighs
on with on a flattered battery (after just starting), if the lamp dims & gets
brighter when the engine is revved the alternator is at it's O/P limit for this
e revs.
The keep the engine running tests with no battery & put the headlights on
will only test whether the alternator can supply the 5A ingition pulse while
there is 3A of sidelamps (inc dashboard) when U ask for something like 30A
if turn on surge from cold headlight bulbs but 10A running!
