Maybe my car-battery is something exceptional, but since I bought that car
7 1/2 years ago I had never needed a new battery, and I never had to recharge
it. Even in the last winter it started the car without hesitation on the
coldest day. And I drive mosty short distances, with often restarting because
I don't let the engine run idle for minutes at red traffic lights (saves
about 5% fuel, but is a pain for a battery).
Just every one or two months I drive a longer distance, this seems to be
enough to recharge the battery and keep it in good condition, so it actually
is needing no servicing (which it was meant to be).
Could it be that car batteries are different on the southern hemisphere?
