Hi Warren, everything you wrote about advantage of 7+, is doubtless. The 7+ is certainly the best method for transmission of bigger files through present packet network and it is already worldwide spread. However : for example in old good Europe (namely in OK and surrounding countries) predominate nodes with user's entry 1k2 and they are meanwhile mostly used too. So the total size of up/down loaded great files (no matter if splittered with 7+ or not) is significant too.
Thence, let us return to the question "Is it possible to transfer some circuitry and other simple drafts using OEM-DOS script - without losses of considerable details ?". If yes, this technique should be used in suitable cases. At least for global directories, as TECH@WW and alike. Savings more over than 50% size is of negligible importance.
You have closed your contribution with a well-known slogan "Preserve the integrity...". By my opinion, using as minimal file sizes as possible in our PR net in all possible cases, could be a bit of contribution to this aim.
