So that's how they put the fizz in the bottles of bubbly! ;-)

The Wankel motor (engine, actually) was designed by a German (I think his
first name was Felix) and does consist of a triangular (slightly
'bloated') rotating in a chamber similar to a ;figure-8' in cross-section.
The first connercial production was in the NSU, but the rotor seals were
the main prolem at the time. Several years later the Mazda team had
overcome many problems (including uneven heat generation/dissipation
within the block(s), a problem that still causes a few problems with
inexperienced tinkerers. Power-to-weight for volume were higher than a
conventional engine (4 cyl inline). But the fuel consumption with a
concrete filled wellie, would cause the consumption to resemble of a large
capacity, V8 driven in similar style. power/volume was disproportionate to
comsumption. But they still have their devotees!
