Hi readers,
I have just seen a news item about the UK's MOD are objecting to any
wind turbine being sited within 46 miles of any of their radar set/sites!
The only other country that has such a limit a 3 mile one in Germany!
The Royal Institution (Science body) has criticised the MOD about this.

Years ago I was involved with Radar QRM test from GB3HV a 23cm ATV repeater
that was allegedly casing QRM to London Heathrow's Radar (also GB3TV that at
the time was shut down for a while as its cleared Tx Freq was right on top of
the rasdar!). In practice one of our repeater's weak sideband were seen by the
radar set 40KM away for « of a degree of there dish, on only 1 of there 4
concurrent radar channels. The complaint was thought to be unreasonable by our
UK licence body Radio Agency engineer at the time, & the Radar people were
asked to look again at the problem. I heard later that an upgrade of there
software failed to included their fixed QRM database!

Could it be that the MOD radars just need a software update to solve the wind
turbine interference problem?

/QSL
