I've missed most of this thread but add the follwing anecdotal evidence.
I have 2 cars, one is black (Honda CRV) and the other is white (Toyota CarinaE).
I live where we get quite a lot of morning frosts and occasionally the odd
six inches of snow. What I can tell you is that if both my cars
have a similar covering of frost (normally covering the front and rear glass
and the roof and glass sunrooves) after a clear night with a nice bright
sunny morning, then when the sun shines on the cars, the ice melts off the
black car a lot quicker that the white car.
