Hello all yagi builders.
I would like to hear from anyone who has ACTUALLY built a loop yag1 on 23 cm
or other wave length. Are there any benefits in the loop design versus the
usual round rod design? Seems to me that it would a lot more trouble to build
than the normal linear element yagi. I've made quite a few 23 cm yagis, with
3 mm rod elements, on a 1.2 metre boom over the years. All matched up well and
worked well.
Does corrosion in the joint of the loops affect the performance? What is
the recommended way of mounting a loop yagi on a mast?
In the G8MNY bulletin the boom is 5 1/2 metres long by 12.7 mm dia of an
unstated material. I suppose it would be aluminium which would droop badly
without some additional support. Does drooping of the boom affect the
performance? If the boom is aluminium, how is corrosion avoided between the
boom and the copper driven element?
Has anyone built the loop yagi described in Johns bulletin? How does it work?
