I read David G4EBT's bulletin with interest.

One point though, it does not seem to have short circuit protection.
I accidently shorted the output of mine and one of the output transistors went
short circuit and the output went up to 24 volt. Fortunately my FT920 seems to
have over voltage protection and switched itself off.

I can agree that the physical construction is a nightmare.
The transistor  that failed  in mine  was on  the lower  level of the heatsink
which made it very difficult to get at.

One thing anyone  with one of  these power supplies  should check is  that the
vents in the cover are at the front.  It looks like the cover could be put  on
backwards. This would of course keep the airflow away from the heatsink.
