I have just been reviewing what my next homebrew project might be and
was thinking about making a simple xtal controlled all band 5 - 10 watt
transmitter.

Considering my recent success with as little as 1 watt of cw/ssb working
easily into the middle east with an indoor antenna 5 watts seems high power
;-)

Anyway - thats besides the point.

My imagination wandered to "desert island rigs" and designs and this got me
thinking of emergency repairs to PCB's when "on a desert island" - or more
appropriatly "when one is out in the field away from mains electricity how do
I improvise a soldering iron ?"

So how does one improvise a soldering iron when *pcb* repair (E.g. a component
change) is required on a "desert island" ?
