Hello Mark and all,
WELL WRITTEN MARK! All points well made to say the least. That's just
what we need, a shot in the arm to get us going, a good healthy dose of
RF.
The future of packet is in point to point microwave links which make the
present day VHF/UHF backbone look like the dinosaur it is. Being
broadband they have exactly the same capabilities as the Internet so just
why the > L < bother with land line lids? Let's take that "We can do it
better than you. " horn they're blowing and replace it with a MICROWAVE
horn we can blow right in their ear! WE, the Amateur Radio operaters can
then rightly say "Now we can do it better than YOU!"
Hmmm, "Anything you can do I can do better." "No you can't." "Yes I can."
"No you can't." "Yes I CAAAAN!" Sound familiar? If not you don't know
your classic theatre. (;->)
Now if we can push this microwave linking thing we already have into high
gear and develop it further into a workable packet radio system serving
the users directly we'll have our very own Internet with all it's
capabilities. Let's get AMSAT and the microwave boys in on this too, we
need to expand beyond The Lost World of dinosaur packet and get Back To
The Future! Imagine a worldwide Amateur Radio internet linking all our
computers via microwave terrestrial and sattelite systems, gee, we could
put the whole lot of Internet and TV networks right out of business.
(;->) Yeah, my tongue is making me look like a hamster again, but I HAVE
A DREAM. Dreams become reality you know, what we need is more dreamers!
Are you sleeping or are you in a coma?
