Hello,

Shows the narrow mind of some people. Remove your blinkers.....

Can we not still experiment with Antenna's for these WiFi systems?

Can we not still experiment with propergation utilising this equipment?

Can we not develop software systems to utilise this equipment?

Can we not establish a high speed network catering to the needs of amateur
radio operators?

Can we "attempt" to move with the times instead of living in the past?

There you go, 4 topis of discussion to get you lot started.

As a foot note, I was speaking to a HAM the other day and he was playing
around with a PCMCIA Wireless LAN card, 200mW power, he went mountain
topping and was able to communicate with a friend some 50 Km's away using
a 32mW card. Not bad hey.

I have just modified an old MDS 18dbi mesh parabola antenna for use with
these cards and hopefully in the next few weeks I can have a operational
link between a friend (another HAM) over a LoS path of 3.6 Km's and 22 or
11 Mbit/s, if that is marginal, which I do not think it will be, I have a
25bdi MDS antenna to try.

Am I experimentating with RF? Maybe there is hope for amateur radio
yet???

Regards

Eyes wide open.

Mark
