Hello to all 'AMATEURS'.
Are there any 'Radio Amateurs' on packet who would be interested in some
technical discussion of matters more meaningful to Ham Radio. I have not
seen much of interest since our 'Balloons', 'Motors', 'Gravity', 'Nicads',
to name a few. While I accept that not all of us are into the nitty-gritty
of electronics, and that some may wish to talk about everyday things, I am
not impressed by some of the subjects and comments that we have been seeing.
The recent flood of 'BBC Fatties' from the good old Un-united Queendom, is
not doing our image any good, and may be doing us a dis-service in the view
of watching critics. Certainly, in Australia, our 'Equal Oportunities' laws
and the 'Women's Electoral Lobby', or our 'Women's Affairs Commissioner',
would have cause for action if such comments were made here. It is simply
not Ham Radio to waffle on about personalities, and there are plenty of
more suitable subjects to talk about that would be of interest to 'Amateurs'.
We no longer see bulletins from some of the European gentlemen who were
frequent commentators to technical discussions. Where have they gone?
We are now seeing the same old callsigns, with the same old trivia in the
most unfriendly language that was never part of packet in the past!
How about a new group on packet who would devote some of the time to asking
for and talking about information that applies to Ham Radio. We could ignore
the unwanted comments; just not reply to them as we do to pirates.
This may be of interest to some of the 'silent' packeteers, if any.
