This message @ WW is basically a Question about LED's and because the subject
is probably a big one, I hope the flow of info will interest more than just
myself.

LED's have come a long way from what I started to play with ( blow up )
when I was a little kid making crystal sets and flashing lights. We use them
in all sorts of situations and the new utra bright ones I find ammazing. They
seem to put out lots of light for a small amount of power. One ultra bright
LED and two AA cells will run for days...weeks and maybe months...I'm still
waiting for my test to run flat.
What or how are these products made???? Is it the junction glowing or is the
junction making UV and this exciting another material??? What makes these
colours, red, yellow, green, UV, IR, blue and pink...? Do LED's wear out with
use...ie: do CD laser's ( are these LED's???) get less bright with use...and
stop working??? ... making the owner buy a new one! Ummmmm...does anyone
know???? Ta - Nick
