Hello Andy,
It looks on this end you haven't been following this discussion as
closely as you claim. If you had been you would have noted my "fact
sheet" on the subject. (;->)
In short (circuit), that reverse polarity protection diode wouldn't "give
it's life" for anything, it would simply do it's job, conduct and the
fuse would open. I have seen this happen, CBers aren't the brightest
bulbs in the house.
The HEART of this whole discussion is COMMON SENSE and proper periodic
vehicle inspection and maintanence, INCLUDING the electrical system. If
the wiring is done properly in the first place and PM carried out, only
the unforseen can go wrong. THAT is very rare indeed, accidents don't
happen, they are CAUSED.
Your lengthy explanation is clear enough, but somehow they consistently
overlook or ignore the SIMPLE one.
