         Hi TH-F6 and TH-F7 owners

I read in the instruction manual that the charge must be stopped at full
charge in order to prevent a too short battery life.

I wonder why ? Because the battery cannot be charged more than 100%

I made some interesting measurements which seem to prove it.

I've measured the current flowing at the 12v DC plug connected to a good
external power supply (not the supplied Kenwood charger)

- With a half charged battery and the TCVR turned off the current is
stable at 300 mA, then, just before the end of charge it decreases and
when it reaches about 100 ma the two leds unlight. At this moment the
current continue to decrease and after 15 mn it stay stable at 8 mA only.

- With a continuous current of 8 mA the battery cannot be damaged at all,
more, if i remove the battery the current is ever at 8 mA so it is not
sure at all that it flows inside the battery itself.

- Under these conditions i wonder how to use this rig if it is mainly
powered by an external 12v power supply ? Must i remove the battery ? Or
is it advisable to remove the 12v plug to use the rig powered only by its
battery but in this case we must charge it very often, the number of cycle
of charge is not infinite and the price of the battery very high + - 100
US dollars !

- Nothing is perfect but as we can now find cheap 1800 mAH NiMH accus the
solution of the Li-ion of Kenwood is not the best !!!

I would be very interested to know what you are thinking about that
question and hope to read your replies soon.

Best regards from Mike
