Hi,
For information, I have just discovered an interesting fact about CD Rom
drives!
The regular unit fitted to my Pentiun 111 450, has a Liteon CD Rom, and it
is over a year old, but has not had a lot of use!
I had fitted, for making data backups, an additional CD Rom, a Sony 8X4X32
CD RW.
As well as the serious side of computing, I play large War Strategy Games,
and the latest from the USA, I have is Red Alert 2, which is heavily copy
protected, so I copuld not make a "working copy"!
I kept having problems/crashes using the Liteon Unit, so I decided to try
the Sony, and the program runs perfectly without a single "internal error",
so my thinking is, perhaps the Liteon does not like the copy protection!
I will discard it shortly and have a Sony CD Rom installed!
As a matter of interest, one of the bigger companies( computer retail)
here, stated to me "we only use Sony CD roms, they are the best!"
I am passing this information on, to assist anyone, by relating my
experiences here, something to think about!
Hope this helps someone!
Cheers!
Graeme
