development. The social retardation shows itself most glaringly in the
small group of "Internet Forwarders" who have rationalized actions which
they KNOW are destroying a Radio-based network built by Amateur Radio
operators.
They disparage the Amateur Radio digital network, even though they have no
network of their own at all.
They engage in actions which damage and could destroy that network's
integrity and usefulness, even though they have NOTHING to offer in return
except - the telephone. Destroying an Amateur Radio net in order to offer
Amateur Radio operators the telephone to communicate with is nothing more
or less than simple vandalism. Only the morally and intellectually bankrupt
are capable of rationalizing such actions.
Jealous of the Amateur Radio Net's fundamental legitamacy as a global
Amateur Radio network, certain TCP/IP devotees decide that this
"competition" can only be decided by destroying what others have built,
rather than even attempting to build something for themselves.
Take a good look at yourself.. What are YOU really offering Amateur Radio
with your actions?
If you do not like Amateur Radio, what concievable "good" reason could
there be for you to continue to "associate yourself" with it? Will your
communications outfit profit when Amateur Radio loses their network or
another bit of their spectrum? Will your boss give you a slap on the back
if you can say you were a PART of that loss and destruction?

Well in Greece we only have FULL CLASS licenses. VHF only is not permitted,
but still AMPRnet is thriving.

Dear Terry,
I agree with your views and I think that most if not all TCP/IPers agree
with you too, if I judge from what I have read in this list in the past few
years.
I believe we all think that a global amateur radio network is the best thing
we can hope to have. The difference is that guys like Charles try to ban such
a network because they think that networking is only mail forwarding!!!
You have probably all seen what kind of catastrophy PACKET KINGS and
NETROM BARONS (just like Charles) have done to our amateur packet radio
network
and to our hobby in general. They are the ones that say, ah TCPIP has got
a lot of overhead and bla bla bla, so the use all sorts of bad lists and so on
in order to stop TCP/IPers to use the NETROM NODES, and then Mr Charles
accuses
as for destroying amateur digital modes???
So I do not think that Charles has got any right to protest for the amateur
digital modes because all he cares about is not to lose his (customers???)
from connecting to his BBS and the rest that he says are nice stories but for
little kids!!!
After all I always thought that we are only doing a HOBBY!!!
So I think that it is time for some people (e.g. Charles) to grow up and start
thinking!!!

Gentlemen: I have been reading this list for nearly a decade, and never before
has the discussion actually degenerated into "Is to!" and "Is not!" Is it
really necessary to continue this?

Congratulations! You've made it to my killfile.
Don't bother replying (for obvious reasons).
