Subject: ax25/Linux Manual

The Manual is Ready
Thursday, February 06, 1997

Since there are so many waiting for me to "finish" the manual covering the
loading and use of the ax25 tools, I decided not to finish the manual before
putting it out. Since it is a free manual I have zip to worry about.

I am writing the manual in Linux using the Wordstar editor called joe. It
is VERY nice. But I realize a lot of Hams starting out don't have all the
unix experiance they might like to have. Yesterday I printed the manual. It
is much better in a printed form than in a computer sceen image. You are
going to want it in a loose leaf binder that you can prop up near your
computer.

This message and the manual are done in Microsoft Word version 6. My wife
who teaches English uses Word. She can type 120 wpm into Word and it's
perfect. It is a very good editor.

The manual will be available in ascii format and in Word for windows
version 2 format. The ascii format will be a version that can be printed
from DOS with the print command. What ever it takes, get a printed copy!

The manual is available from me as a file attach. If you don't know what
that is you don't want to use it. The maual and the software is available
from ftp.ucsd.edu and today it's in the /hamradio/packet/tcpip/incoming
directory under the file name ax25kit2.zip. The ax25kit1.zip is the other
file containing the software.

Or you can get it from me by mail. Send me a 2 bucks to cover postage,
paper, toner and mailer. It will be printed on my HP LaserJet series ll
printer I AM proud to own.
