That's not how you do it, you won't find a good address for
gonzo.triode.net.au either but your email worked it out.

Are you sure they said that, or something like "no A records for aol.com".
At a guess, you are trying to do someting the wrong way, but if you really
want to know the IP address that people use to email at aol.com, I suggest
trying a type MX record lookup first to give you the name of the machine
that does the aol mail handling. Then looking up the IP address of the
machine. Most likely it is called something like mail.aol.com or
smtp.aol.com

Yep and I'm going to copywrite 44.136.13.17 when I get the chance...
And those DNS' flagrant breach of copywrite (not that silly if those idiots
in America get their way).
What they told you was bull, an IP address is not proprietary. Must be due
to working so close to those AOL users.
