Don't modify the local DNS tables! Fix it properly with "smtp usemx on".

My response to Mike Bilow and rest of you that took your valuable
time to respond to my problem.

Thanks for all of your responses, now have a total of 9+ useful
responses in less than 24 hours. Fast by my standards. Part
of the problem of using the external internet DNS is the response
time. Two of my ports are radio, but the third is Trumpet Winsock
on top of Windows for W/G. I use the local 10Base2 Ethernet in
my home to tie im my server, development machine and my wife's
computer in the kitchen. The DNS requests to the outside
world are sometimes not quick enough to reply before applications,
like Eudora times out. My Ham/Internet gateway server/router is
running DOS JNOS 110L. Maintaining a local table for those
handful of names seems to work best for my personal use.

RFC1480 does a good job of explaining MX useage.

To Mike Bilow, thanks for your reponse, I really do appreciate it,
this message was originally sent to your address, but Eudora was not
able to resolve your IP address and timed out. Apparently Eudora and
Winsock is not able to resolve MX records, or at least not able to
do that within the time allowed by the Eudora application. The
combination of Winsock and JNOS has fustrated many of us, some say it
cannot be done. I'm just trying to patch around temporary problems
until technology becomes affordable.

Have a Merry Christmas! Two weeks of time off from work for play!
