I suppose this is just another rubbish mail, but i wonder if the sender of
this mail realises he is bringing our packet system into danger.
In most countries in Europe its forbidden to relay "Commercial mail", and or
advertisements of "Non ham related subjects".
This has been discussed many times here on this list, so thats all.

Again - if you relay this mailing list to ham radio, auditing the
content of the messages is ***YOUR*** responsibility.

Tcp-group is an internet mailing list, and content is according to
internet etiquette.

Make-money-fast messages are not acceptable, of course.

Subject: Fw: Error Correction Coding for 56KB modems

Yes, Dale and I have been talking about this for a few weeks. He has
implemented a rate 2/3 convolutional code with a "threshold" or
"feedback" decoder, as opposed to a Viterbi or Fano
decoder.

Threshold decoding is much simpler than either Viterbi or Fano
decoding, and can be implemented in very simple hardware, like the
Xilinx gate array in the new WA4DSY modem. On the other hand, it
doesn't perform nearly as well as Viterbi and Fano. But it does seem
to perform well enough against pulsed QRM to be very useful.
